TROPICAL FRUIT WAREHOUSE

Located at 30-32 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Tropical Fruit Warehouse skillfully combines a rejuvenated historical structure, once a hub for tropical fruit imports, with a striking new six-story addition featuring a double basement. The entire development spans 85,000 sq.ft., presenting an impressive waterfront presence.

This development is part of the landmark urban campus Spencer Place, overlooking the River Liffey on Dublin’s North Wall Quay. As part of the project, PJ Hegarty restored and integrated the historic British & Irish Rail Building within the new Salesforce EMEA HQ, comprising over 39,000m² of LEED Platinum-certified office with three unique interconnecting nine-storey buildings above a triple basement. Ireland’s largest hotel group Dalata operates the new four-star, 204-bed Samuel Hotel on the campus.

This 65,000m² development is part of the landmark new urban campus Spencer Place, overlooking the River Liffey on Dublin’s North Wall Quay. As part of the project, PJ Hegarty restored and integrated the historic British & Irish Rail Building within the new Salesforce EMEA HQ, comprising over 39,000m² of LEED Platinum-certified office with three unique interconnecting nine-storey buildings above a triple basement. Ireland’s largest hotel group Dalata operates the new four-star, 204-bed Samuel Hotel on the campus. The project was carried out in a busy city centre environment requiring detailed coordination and liaison with neighbouring stakeholders, Dublin City Council and Transdev.

MALLINCKRODT PHARMACEUTICAL

MALLINCKRODT PHARMACEUTICAL

The Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals project is a state-of-the-art biopharmaceutical facility built on an 11-acre greenfield site in Blanchardstown, west Dublin. Construction consisted of a 5,200m2 facility for research, development and manufacturing, plus the company’s corporate headquarters. PJ Hegarty was awarded the initial enabling contract, followed by phase 2, which involved construction of the manufacturing building and the office block. Phase 3 began an extension to the existing block adding offices and research labs, which was carried out during live operations and involved adherence to strict safety and security protocols.

PJ Hegarty was involved in redeveloping the home of Munster Rugby, creating a new landmark for Limerick city. The project involved demolishing a stand and buildings, and building two new stands (East and West) without interrupting scheduled matches. The overall capacity was increased to 25,600, with a special effort made to preserve the close relationship between players and fans.

The Analog Devices Building is the award-winning flagship site for the Bernal Project built on the South Campus of the University of Limerick and completed in 2015. This groundbreaking science and engineering research facility is housed within a new four-storey structure, with a gross floor area measuring 7,650m² comprising state-of-the-art laboratories with research suites, write-up areas, meeting rooms, offices, and a 200-seat lecture theatre.

The new Medical School at the University of Limerick was built in an area of natural beauty on the banks of the River Shannon and was designed to reflect the unique geology of the Burren, a nearby national park famous for its limestone formation.

PHIBBLESTOWN SCHOOL CAMPUS

PJ Hegarty was contracted for the design and build of a new campus comprising two schools and a community facility in Phibblestown, Dublin 15, with work commencing in March 2009 and completed in August 2010. The largest building is a 1,000-pupil post-primary school comprising 27 classrooms, 38 specialist classrooms, PE facilities, and a special needs unit with ancillary accommodation, totalling 11,278m² over three floors. A separate three-story primary school contains 24 classrooms, a special needs unit and ancillary accommodation, with a total floorplan of 4,306m², with an additional 2,500m² community facility onsite.

The Glucksman Art Gallery and Restaurant Building is a multi-award-winning project close to the banks of the River Lee that forms part of the Main Campus at the Lower Grounds of UCC.

MUNSTER TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

MUNSTER TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

PJ Hegarty was awarded the contract in 2003 for the construction of a new Tourism and Catering Studies Building at Munster Technological University (formally Cork Institute of Technology), which was commissioned to provide much-needed state-of-the-art facilities to service the huge demand for trained personnel in the thriving tourism and hospitality sector in Cork and Kerry. The design was a part-single storey, part-two storey brick-clad building with functional and decorative brick chimneys.
