Men’s Shed Bug Hotel Initiative

As part of our ESG 2024 initiatives to support biodiversity and the local community, we partnered with Ballinora Men’s Shed to create bug hotels for our projects across the Southern Region. These bug hotels provide a safe resting place for insects during their travels, especially during winter, thereby supporting the pollination cycle and biodiversity.

We were delighted to donate to the Ballinora Men’s Shed, a community-based project where men come together to learn, share skills, and make long-lasting friendships.

Pobalscoil na Tríonóide SkillFest’24 Sponsorship

We were proud to sponsor the debut Pobalscoil na Tríonóide, SkillsFest ’24. This innovative event brought together secondary schools from East Cork and West Waterford, putting the spotlight on vocational skills.

At SkillsFest ‘24, students had the unique opportunity to display their skills in seven key areas:

  • Construction
  • Information Technology
  • Engineering
  • Art
  • Hair & Beauty
  • Home Economics
  • Design and Graphics

This was an incredible chance for students from different schools to connect, share, and compete, showcasing their skills.

In recognition of their hard work and talent, winners in each category were celebrated with prizes totalling €3,500 and handcrafted trophies for the top three teams across all schools. Pictured below is our Contracts Manager, Fergus O Rourke, presenting prizes and trophies to some of the winning teams at the event.

Peter McVerry Trust Cycle 2023

The PJ Hegarty Cycling Club was proud to participate in the annual Peter McVerry Trust Cycle last weekend. Despite unforgiving and challenging weather conditions on the day, the team completed the cycle of the Leopardstown Loop through the Wicklow Way.

We are proud to be sponsors for one of the most important fundraising event for this charity. Funds raised will help Peter McVerry Trust continue to deliver crucial support and services to those impacted by homelessness who need help the most in communities across Ireland.

Sunflower Competition

As part of our biodiversity initiative and to support World Bee Day, we launched a ‘Grow Your Own Sunflowers’ project in March this year.

We supplied seeds to all our staff, and thanks to dedication and green thumbs, sunflowers bloomed across Irish and UK gardens. We also had project teams construct planters using recycled pallets and sow wildflowers for our bees and other pollinators to enjoy.

We are very proud of everyone who joined us in this initiative to promote biodiversity and support our pollinators who are fundamental for the health of ecosystems and food security across the globe.
