WALK PEER Programme

We were delighted to welcome students from St. Ita’s, Drogheda, St. Brigid’s, Dundalk, Scoil Chiarain, Glasnevin, and MacDara’s, Templeogue to our Treasury project in Dublin as part of the WALK PEER Programme.

The WALK PEER Programme helps bridge the transition for students from special education to employment. Students are supported in recognising their interests, skills, and talents to determine where they might best fit in the labour market. Our visitors, interested in careers in the construction industry, had the opportunity to speak directly with our team and learn about the various career pathways construction and apprenticeships offer.

Our Director, Dave Casey, guided the tour and demonstrated our commitment to developing a supportive and inclusive work environment. The students also spoke with people working in trades who offered valuable insights into their roles and the industry’s dynamic nature.

We want to thank our Client for supporting the visit to the site and all those involved from PJ Hegarty, Designer Group HQ and Tritech Engineering, who gave valuable insight to the students.

December Safety Focus

This week, we launched our December Safety Focus Campaign. As we get closer to the festive season, let’s stay focused on what truly matters: returning home safe from work each day. The shorter days and the hustle and bustle of this month can lead to fatigue, making it even more crucial to keep safety at the forefront of our minds and ensure an incident and injury-free workplace. Our December Safety Focus Campaign highlights essential safety messages that focus on making the right choices for your safety at work, on the road, at home, and for your health and wellbeing.

Throughout the month, to give back to our communities, we’re fundraising for RMHC Ireland across all our sites and offices, which has supported 500 families of sick children since 2004.

We wish everyone in the construction industry a safe countdown to Christmas. We thank our dedicated teams and supply chain partners for consistently making safety your number one focus throughout the year.

Supply Chain DEI Webinar

Earlier this week, we hosted a Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion webinar with the Irish Centre for Diversity for our valued supply chain members.

This session marked the first step in our three-year DEI strategy to influence our partners positively. The session covered the importance of fostering inclusive workplaces and best practices.

Weโ€™re proud of our DEI journey, from achieving Bronze and Silver accreditations with the Irish Centre for Diversity to working towards Gold. Together with our partners, we are committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive construction industry.

World Quality Week Roundup

For World Quality Week, our campaign highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards across everything we do. Quality isn’t just a focus for one week; it’s a daily commitment we uphold to ensure excellence in each of our projects.

This year, our campaign ingrained quality in our operations through the following:
๐Ÿ”น Quality-focused presentations on specific topics, highlighting best practices and innovation.
๐Ÿ”น Recognising excellence through our Quality Awards, celebrating those who consistently go above and beyond.
๐Ÿ”น Quality toolbox talks on site, ensuring everyone in our workforce understands their role in upholding quality.
๐Ÿ”น Engaging our teams at every level to foster a culture where quality is at the heart of everything we do.

Neurodiversity in the Workplace Webinar

On Friday, we hosted an insightful webinar on Neurodiversity in the Workplace. The session was packed with valuable insights, covering:

  • Ways to enhance how we work with colleagues in the neurodivergent space.
  • Practical ways to better support neurodivergent colleagues and those caring for neurodivergent family members.
  • The importance of recognising and respecting our unique qualities while embracing our differences.
  • Tips we can all use to build a more inclusive work environment.

PJ Hegarty fosters a workplace that cares about and values its people, and we are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer. This webinar is just one of the steps we take as part of our DEI strategy to ensure we deliver on that promise.

Run in the Dark

Our Cork and Limerick teams joined over 3,000 runners in Cork City and 25,000 participants globally for Wednesday night’s ‘Run in the Dark’ event. We were delighted to participate in the event dedicated to curing paralysis within our lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who participated and the supporters cheering them on along the route!

Irish Construction Industry Awards 2024

Congratulations to our Midleton Distillery Experience project team, who picked up Contractor Tourism & Hospitality Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards!

The judges commended the project’s approach to sustainable craftsmanship. Delivering on the vision of our client Irish Distillers and their design team, the conservation and restoration of the existing structures and features, some of which date back to 1794, set this project apart, alongside our sustainable and circular economy approach to reusing materials.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a resounding success, and congratulations to all finalists and fellow award winners!
