International Women in Engineering Day

This year, on International Women in Engineering Day, we are taking the opportunity to highlight some of the women who make a significant contribution to our business.

Everyday they drive progress and help shape the future of construction. We spoke to three of our engineers about what they enjoy most about working in the industry.

‘I enjoy the collaborative aspect of the role. Bringing ideas, people and systems together to reach a shared design goal is incredibly fulfilling. Seeing the work come together successfully on site is a great reminder of how powerful and effective coordination and communication can be.’ Lauren Walsh

‘I love being in the thick of it. Working on site is fast paced and unpredictable. It’s a great way of learning how to manage obstacles and coordinate teams to keep the project moving. It is satisfying seeing a project come together from design to the finished product.’ Anne Marie Kelly

‘I enjoy the problem-solving side of engineering and the satisfaction that comes from finding the right solution. Seeing a design develop from an initial concept into a finished project is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.’ Jennifer Mitchell

Ronald McDonald Plane Pull

On Friday, June 19th, ten members of our team took part in the Ronald McDonald House Charity Plane Pull challenge. From bear crawls to military-style drills, the event put participants through their paces.

As sponsors of the event, we were delighted to support such an important cause. Ronald McDonald provides a space for families with seriously ill children receiving treatment, allowing them to stay close to their loved ones during a difficult time.

Making wellbeing visible with Lighthouse Charity

We are proud to support The Lighthouse Charity and their work across the construction industry.

Recently, we welcomed the Lighthouse Charity’s Make it visible campaign to site, providing an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and reinforce the importance of looking after our mental and physical wellbeing.

Also, on June 12th, we attended the annual Summer Lunch at the Mansion House. The event brings together people from across the industry to support one great cause, ensuring construction workers and their families can access the wellbeing and support services they may need.

A huge thank you to the Lighthouse Charity for the invaluable work they do and for continuing to promote wellbeing throughout our industry.
